ABOUT

Leah Mayersohn, Esq.

Since founding Mayersohn Law Group in 2000, I have built a relentless trial practice around representing my clients during the most challenging moments of their lives.
Whether I’m helping them navigate a high-stakes criminal investigation or a complex family transition, I believe that one professional or personal setback should not define a person’s future.
I’ve learned that the most important part of my job is helping my clients change the trajectory of their lives: securing the personal freedom they deserve and the best results possible under the law.
Without hesitation, I truly believe Leah Mayersohn is the best lawyer in Florida. She was the only lawyer who not only personally took my phone call during the Thanksgiving holiday but was patient when I had a million questions before even choosing her as my husband’s lawyer! She was attentive, responsive, informative, hard-working and by far the best lawyer I've ever come in contact with! She truly helped facilitate a smooth release process for someone like myself who had absolutely no clue how anything worked! I appreciate everything she’s done from the bottom of my heart.

Leah Mayersohn:

South Florida
Trial Attorney

Growing up in Los Angeles, I was a natural advocate, and this energy eventually led me to the UCLA National Championship debate team. We took home the national title, and that foundation in high-stakes, competitive communication became the bedrock of my legal career.
However, practicing criminal law was never my intent. I was originally headed for estate planning and tax litigation until I realized I wouldn’t be allowed into a courtroom unless I practiced trial law. I took a chance as a certified legal intern at the State Attorney’s Office in Gainesville, and after my first jury trial, I was hooked.
I spent the early years of my career as a prosecutor, handling over 100 jury trials, several hundred non-jury trials, and 1,800 appeals.
This detailed trial experience gave me an inside look at exactly how the Florida court system moves – and how to make it work in my clients’ favor.

In 2000, I opened Mayersohn Law Group, serving clients in criminal defense.

Shortly after, I navigated my own divorce, which gave me a firsthand understanding of the pressure my clients face. It was then that I expanded my practice to include a continuum of care for family law, covering everything from high-asset property division to substance abuse litigation and adoptions.

A "Continuum of Care" for High-Stakes Legal Crises

I’ve seen the magical shift that happens when we refuse to accept a negative outcome.

I’ve watched a client facing a 30-year sentence walk out of prison after a successful appeal, ready to change his life. I’ve represented wealthy families in dependency cases where we didn’t just fight for custody but helped a man get sober so he could be a father again. I’ve even taken a business owner buried under hundreds of telemarketing fraud allegations and cleaned up the entire mess, getting the charges dropped and the client healthy.
These results are only possible because my philosophy is rooted in radical honesty and aggressive strategy. I don’t sugarcoat the facts, but I never downplay my clients’ options, either. My goal is to take the burden off my clients’ shoulders and help them get to a much better place than where I found them.

When I’m not in the courtroom, I lean into my creative side with ceramics and traveling. I am also a firm believer in giving back to the South Florida community through fundraising for the Fort Lauderdale Art Museum and supporting foster kids through JAFCO.

Protecting Your Reputation, Your Assets, and Your Future

Over twenty years of trial experience has taught me exactly what is at stake for my clients. A legal crisis can threaten a person’s career, their family life, and their hard-earned reputation.

I work hard to fight for the positive outcome that other firms think is impossible, and I take pride in being the person who speaks up for my clients when it matters most.
